This semester I've really moved forward as a teen brain health advocate for tons of reason, ill try to summarize them to the best of my ability. I suck at biology I just cant fly through the class like most mainly because of how hard it is for all the words and information to stick with me. This made it a struggle for me to really become a teen brain health advocate because at the beginning of the project I didn't really know what I was suppose to know. As we progressed through the project I noticed that lots of things I struggled with were becoming a lot less difficult. I just really feel that I reached the point where I should have been as an advocate, I reached a point where the information I was trying to advocate for was all familiar to me allowing me to really help others better understand my topic.
Having become such an advocate I would love for people to really look into just how misunderstood the teen brain is. The brain is a very complicated part of the human body and its even more complicated for a teen going through a pinnacle point of life called puberty. People fail to understand the differences between their body and a teens and this causes so much turmoil.
I learned a lot this semester about neurology and the brain but I'm not sure if its a lot when compared to how much others learned. I started of the year knowing absolutely nothing about anything involving biology but after being shoved into the class for a year I was able to leave knowing more than I entered with. I've done tons of mind maps and have annotated countless pages out of Sat biology books throughout the year hoping that some of the information will stick. In the end quite a bit of information did end up staying with me, most of it was simple information and revolved mainly around the circulatory system but in my opinion that's a huge step for me and I think there's nothing wrong with taking it one step at a time.
