Electronics
In class we worked in small groups of about four people and built a ROV but the Rov was just the start. To control the ROV we had to build a controller from scratch and that proved to be difficult because we had to figure out how the controller worked. The controller started of with the original circuit board but we had to solder a few wires to it and then connect those wires to the robot so they had a physical connection. The controller acted like a brain for the robot and sent messages to the robot that allowed it to move in the water. The controller also had switches and buttons on it that allowed us to send the messages to the robot.
In this section of science i learned about how specific parts of electronics worked and circuitry. To learn al of the small things about cicuts we did multiple small activity and projects that led up to having a full grasp on cicurty. We also learned how to protect circutrybeacuse that was just as important as anything beacuse if you let your work get wet or damaged it was game over for everyone. The hardest part of this section was everything beacuse just trying to wrap your head around what was going on was really dificult. At the end my teachers ways of teaching helped get the point across and i eventuay started to understand. |
I thought that the team banner project was a lot of work and was very stressful because of all the work we had put on us. I think that the project would have been a lot better if we could have actually hung the banner up to show of our work. I think that we should have been able to pick our groups as well to encourage us to work. I was most proud of the fact that i actually finished the work because it came down to the last second before my group actually finished.
UNDERWATER ROV
The underwater ROV project was where we got put into groups and had to create our very own working ROV robot. The robot had to be able to move through the underwater terrains of the navy dive pool and just work. Along with the robot we also had to create a remote control to control the robot while it was under the water. The project was also done to help us learn how to work our way around electronics.
While building the ROV we learned quite a few things that where pretty cool. During the project we learned how to create a ROV frame and the steps it takes to make one and how it dose not start with building that's actually the last thing you do. We also learned how to solder on a circuit board and how that circuit board works. The coolest thing we learned had to be how to make a ship log because it made it feel like you where and actual scientist recording experiments and runs of a ROV. I thought that the ROV project was really cool but at moments there was a lot of stress on specific group members and that led to less work time for that person which affected the whole group and eventually led to a bad grade. I also think that this project should be given more time because the students really need that time to finish their work well. Overall i thought it was a cool experience but wouldn't do it again. Here we don't have a link to the WEEBLY that my group created for our ROV as a timeline and document to show our work and progression on the robot and us as group members and scientists. |
General Relativity Quantum Physics
General relativity is the theory of gravity. This is something used for many things such as black holes or wormholes or the existence of human life and earth.Quantum physics is physics which deal with physical phenomena at nano-scopic scales.
In this section we learned a lot about dimensions and how they worked. During this section we watched a movie called interstellar which was about time dilation and black holes and dimensions. We also learned how the dimensions look and act like the first dimension is just a line there is only forward and backwards that is all and the second everything looks like lines and nothing more. I thought this section was really board and was cool at first but eventually i lost interest and didn't want to continue. The beginning of this section was pretty cool though learning about dimensions and how they work and what dimension we live in and how we might be able to interact with other dimension. I did enjoy learning about the dimensions beyond the 7th because they just seem like such far fetched things that could never exists but science kinda points to the fact that they do. To the right there is a picture of my subatomic particle that i made in class. The subatomic particle was a higgs boson and was filled with rice that i was given it was also given a hansom strong man face. To the right there's a picture of my subatomic trading card which i used to show the facts about my particle. The card also had information about why i chose the particle and quick facts that people might find interesting. |
Science Curiosity
To be curios in science means to keep asking questions and never stop wondering about what is going on. So if you find out that color is made by light don't stop there ask why ask for more and seek more answers to questions that you have. Science curiosity is also the most important part of science because without it not one person would have kept going with their idea and find more about what happens around us.
During this section i think i learned the most because it wasn't just about one thing it was about science in general and that allowed me to elaborate on whatever i was learning. The best part was being able to expand on what i thought because at the beginning of the year i felt very enclosed because i didn't want to say anything because i felt like i was going to say something wrong and mess up and now i feel like that's okay because it leads to elaboration. The artifacts to the left where connected to my Brochure Project that we did in class. I put these here because i felt like the Brochure Project really was kinda fun and i actually enjoyed doing it. I also feel like this project is where i felt that i actually did some of my best work because i wasn't bored with it and i could do my best and still enjoy doing it. |
